Role Background: The Senior Finance Specialist role will work in the Finance PMO organization and perform three main activities. The approximate time spent on each activity is indicated below but is only a guide.
1. Project management (70%) – work as the subject matter expert with managers on the Operational Excellence side of the PMO team to drive projects that streamline and/or improve our Finance processes
2. People management (20%) – manage and mentor direct report(s) who are key users of the system
3. System management (10%) – oversee system from a high level standpoint (i.e. during upgrades or roadmap discussions)
Who You Are: An “architect” who is able to view Accounting / Finance processes from an end-to-end perspective involving people, policies, and operations, not just systems. A quick learner who enjoys working with technology, problem solving, and enabling success. A team player for the Operational Excellence team; a business partner for the Accounting / Finance team as well as operation teams outside of Finance (i.e. Sales Operations, PS Operations).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in projects that affect Finance processes, providing a system perspective but being aware of how non-system pieces also fit together
- Work with cross-function teams within and outside of Finance to streamline operations end to end
- Supervise people that will be the day-to-day business partners (i.e. “system key user”) for our Finance teams
- Provide guidance to business analysts (some that will report to you and some that will not) who will handle the detailed execution of subsections of projects (e.g. data migration, configuration)
- Create and update documentation when necessary related to project work and/or to transition stabilized tasks to our team overseas
Skills and Experience:
- Advanced understanding of Accounting / Finance processes and database concepts
- Leadership in escalating and driving complex issues to closure
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detailed, organized and results-oriented
- Extensive foundational knowledge of using NetSuite or SAP BusinessByDesign experience in administration is a plus
Qualifications:
- B.S. or B.A degree preferably in accounting or finance
- Minimum 3-4 years experience working in an accounting / finance related role
- Minimum 1-2 years experience managing people directly or were in some type of leadership role (i.e. project lead)
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Access
